Cataloochee Ski Area Driving Directions

Cataloochee Ski Area is located four miles off U.S. 19 above beautiful Maggie Valley, North Carolina and is easily accessed from Interstate-40.

NOTICE TO OUR GUESTS…please do not use your GPS or IPhone Map app to bring you to the ski area and DO NOT use any mapping that includes the words Scenic View Dr.  This is incorrect and a mapping error that takes you up a dead end private road.

To get to the ski area, come through the town of Maggie Valley turn onto Fie Top Road (at Ghost Town in the Sky and across from Tube World) and continue up that road for 3 miles and then 1 mile across on Ski Lodge Road to the ski area.  Do not turn off of Fie Top Road onto any other road other than Ski Lodge Road.  Also, Tube World is located at the base of the mountain in the town of Maggie Valley and not at the ski area.  They are situated on Soco Road across from Ghost Town.

Also, DO NOT USE DIRECTIONS THAT INCLUDE ROAD NAMES HEMPHILL ROAD OR YELLOW PATCH ROAD.  Use the directions below for the quickest routes.

From the East (Asheville/Charlotte)

Take I-40 West to exit 27 (Maggie Valley). Exit on to U.S. 19/23/74 South (exit right at Exit 103).  Continue into and through the town of Maggie Valley.  At the far end of Maggie Valley, turn right into the Ghost Town in the Sky parking lot onto Fie Top Road.  Continue 3 miles to the top of the mountain on Fie Top Road.  Turn left at the top of Fie Top Road onto Ski Lodge Road and continue 1 mile to ski area.

From the West (Knoxville)

Take I-40 East to exit 20 (Maggie Valley). Exit on to U.S. 276 South (exit right).  Continue 6 miles to red light at the intersection of U.S. 19 South (Maggie Valley Inn & Conference Center will be on your right) and U.S. 276 South.  Turn right at red light onto U.S. 19 South and continue into and through the town of Maggie Valley.  At the far end of Maggie Valley turn right into the Ghost Town in the Sky parking lot onto Fie Top Road.  Continue 3 miles to the top of the mountain on Fie Top Road.  Turn left at the top of Fie Top Road onto Ski Lodge Road and continue 1 mile to ski area.

From the North (Cherokee)

Take U.S. 441 South to U.S. 19 North (Maggie Valley).   Continue over Soco Gap into the town of Maggie Valley.  Turn left into the Ghost Town in the Sky parking lot onto Fie Top Road.  Turn left at the top of Fie Top Road onto  Ski Lodge Road and continue 1 mile to ski area.

From the Atlanta Area and Points South

Take U.S. 441 to U.S. 23 exiting in the city of Waynesville (exit 102 B). Take 276 North to U.S. 19 South (turn left at red light at Lake Junaluska).  Continue on U.S. 19 South into and through the town of Maggie Valley.  At the far end of Maggie Valley, turn right into the Ghost Town in the Sky parking lot onto Fie Top Road and continue 3 miles to the top of the mountain.  Turn left at the top of Fie Top Road onto Ski Lodge Road and continue 1 mile to the ski area.

Tube World Driving Directions

Tube World is located on U.S. 19 at the West end of Maggie Valley, North Carolina and is easily accessed from Interstate-40.  Tube World is not located at the ski area.  Tube World is located on U.S. 19 (4721 Soco Road) directly across from the ski area entrance sign at Fie Top Road in Maggie Valley.

NOTICE TO OUR GUESTS…do not use your GPS or IPhone Map app to bring you to the ski area or Tube World and DO NOT use any mapping that includes the words SCENIC VIEW DR. or ROAD NAMES HEMPHILL ROAD OR YELLOW PATCH ROAD.  Use the directions below for the quickest routes.  These roads are incorrect and a mapping error that takes you up a dead end private road and single lane fire roads.

Tube World is not located at the ski area.  Tube World is located on U.S. 19 (4721 Soco Road) directly across from the ski area entrance sign at Fie Top Road in Maggie Valley.
