Lessons
SNOW PRO CERTIFIED
The Cataloochee Ski & Ride Center maintains membership with the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI). As such, each season we certify select individuals to implement tried-and-true techniques ranging from beginner to expert level. Additionally, staff involved with children’s programs are hand selected and trained to provide an ideal learning environment and experience. Our goal is to give guests the best opportunity for an enjoyable and memorable experience.
All lessons are available to reserve online up to two (2) weeks in advance. Be advised, there is a limited capacity for each, and lessons are not guaranteed unless pre-purchased.

PRIVATE LESSON
If you are looking for undivided attention during your lesson, this is the way to go! Private lessons are available for ages three (3) and above and offer an opportunity to hone skills quicker. With a personal ski or snowboard instructor, lessons can be truly customized based on your individual abilities and goals.
Be advised, prices include the lesson only; slope passes are required to take a lesson, regardless of slope use and student’s age. Slope passes and rentals must be purchased separately. We recommend allowing at least one (1) hour to complete ticketing and rental processes prior to lesson.

CAT TRACKERS
FUN is the heart of our youth program; designed for beginner to intermediate students between the ages of 4-12. Concepts will be introduced in small increments based on learning capacity and early developmental stages respective to each child. Our focus is to provide guidance toward developing necessary skills and confidence to navigate the mountain at a comfortable pace, familiarity with equipment, as well as increase knowledge capacity in slope safety. Sessions have potential for riding lifts and skiing or riding on green and blue trails accompanied by an instructor.
Prices include a slope pass, ski or snowboard rental and helmet rental, as well as snacks for half-day lessons and lunch for full day lessons.
GROUP LESSONS
Youth Beginner (Ages 7-12)
If this will be your child’s first ski or snowboard adventure and they learn best surrounded by peers, group lessons are the perfect option! Our youth beginner group lesson offers the opportunity to learn the basics and grow confidence in a relaxed environment.
Parents and/or guardians are responsible for the timely drop off and prompt pick up of students. Lessons will begin at their scheduled times. Should your child miss the beginning of their lesson, we will do our very best to accommodate, however this may not be possible during periods of high business volume.
We recommend allowing at least one (1) hour to complete ticketing and rental processes prior to lesson.

Adult Beginner (Ages 13+)
Every weekday except December 25th through December 29th
Group lessons are a wonderful option if you have never skied, snowboarded, or used the chairlift.
Learn the basics alongside peers at a similar skill level and with similar goals. This group format lesson is led by a designated instructor and will provide you with necessary education on equipment and mountain safety, as well as a solid foundation of knowledge to maximize your performance and confidence.

Adult Beginner (Ages 13+)
December 23rd through December 31st & January/February weekends
Learning a new skill is challenging and we want to give you the best opportunity to develop your skills. During weekends and holiday periods our daytime group lessons transform into a more flexible progressive instruction. Similar to our traditional group lessons as the same guidelines are followed, students will now move through five specialty stations, each staffed with an instructor. This style of learning is unmatched in allowing for self-paced progression and, of course, lots of FUN! Students have the freedom to enter and exit the progressive instruction during the allotted period as they choose.

Adult Advanced (Ages 13+)
If you have conquered riding the chairlift, as well as all beginner slopes, this lesson option is a great fit for you! Our adult advanced group lessons provide the chance for similarly skilled students from intermediate and above to sharpen their skills quickly, in a group format, under the guidance of one of our ski or snowboard instructors.
